Family Mediation with WYFMS
Sorting out the practical issues of relationship breakdown...
- Regular contact with children for both parents
- Shared parenting and care in future years
- Property and finances
...in a way which is fair to both of you and any children involved.
What Happens?
We will see each of you separately to start with so that you both have the same opportunity to talk through your issues with the mediator, and the mediator can find out about your particular situation and concerns.
After that, if you're both agreeable and if we feel that mediation is right for the two of you, the mediator will want you to come to one or more appointments together.
Following mediation, we will write up the agreements you reach into a formal document and this can become the basis of a court order if you feel you may need one, for example in financial and property matters.

Costs of using our Service?
A small charge is made for your initial, individual appointment (refundable if you are eligible for legal aid).
At the end of your individual appointment we will be able to tell you if your case is suitable for mediation, how many sessions we feel you will need with the mediator, and what the cost of each appointment will be for you. Our fees are on a sliding scale, dependent on income, and are paid at each session so your that costs don't mount up.
Like solicitors, we can offer legal aid for some types of family mediation to those who qualify.
In addition to your time with the mediator, the fees you pay cover all correspondence and reports produced by us on your behalf - there are no extra or hidden charges for administration, telephone calls etc.
