40% of break-ups end up in court.
Pressure group ‘Families Need Fathers’ claim that up to 40%* of break ups end up in court to help resolve child custody issues. This figure is higher than the previously claimed 10% and does cast some doubt on whether people are utilising mediation services as recommended by the courts.
In many of these cases, mediation could have helped parents avoid a lengthy and costly court appearance whilst reducing the conflict. How much easier would life be with no court involvement in the decision making for their children? Equally, how much calmer would it be for those children involved.
